We acquired this piece from the person who wore it: a local prima ballerina who had this specially made for a gala hosted by the Louisville Ballet in the 1980s. It was quite exciting to meet her, as I remembered seeing her on stage many times! Big ballet fan over here.
This is a beautifully constructed garment with couture details. Fabric content is unknown but could very well be a silk satin and is lined with what I think is organza. While the beading is about 95% intact, I did find a place in one of the sleeve gathers of the full puff sleeves that is missing a few sequins – see pics.
